They ensure that the buyers are qualified to purchase the home and walk you through the closing process step by step.

    South-facing windows reduce energy bills through solar gain. But if rooms have large windows, are there trees, balconies or other shade to prevent over-heating in summer? Is there natural light all day?

    A garden or entrance needs a clear boundary between your home and public areas. Is there space for rubbish bins? Are electricity meters stuck in an ugly box outside?

    Is it carefully integrated or does it dominate the street? If you have a garage, check if it is wide enough for your car. Think about visitors to your home and car parking areas for them.
  • The surrounding area
    See the property at different times of day to check on traffic, the street lighting and whether you would want your child walk through nearby streets. Is the area empty and soulless during working hours or is there a mix of residents?
  • The future
    Your kids will grow up, your parents might come to stay with you or you may want to convert a room into a work space. Can the rooms be modified for your new lifestyle? Will your neighbourhood contain the facilities you will need 10 years from now?
