Types of doors

• Wood is beautiful, natural and tactile. Choose from several types meant to be finished naturally, including oak, cherry, walnut, mahogany, maple, fir, pine, or paint-grade doors from any of several softwoods. Because of their vulnerability to moisture and sun, wood doors must be maintained with a durable finish.
• Where a door will be exposed to weather, particularly harsh or humid climatic conditions, fiberglass-composite doors are a smart choice. These doors realistically imitate the look of wood.
• A Steel door is far stronger than either fibre glass or wooden door. In addition, it won't crack, warp or come apart. A fibre glass or steel door may have a wood frame. And nearly any door may have a core of foam insulation.
• Cast iron doors are available in different sizes varying in width from 12 feet to 24 feet. The price of these doors range anywhere between Rs 16,000 to Rs 2 lakhs, depending on the weight and design.
• Laminated doors are maintenance-free and available for Rs 8,000 per sq ft. to Rs 12,000 per sq ft.
• Veneer doors that are melamine polished are available in the price range of Rs 10,000 per sq ft to a lakh of rupees, depending on personal choice.
• Batten doors are old-style doors that have vertical pattas (wooden planks) to give a rich look.
