Surface preparation

Technically, a good surface preparation process is required as part of the groundwork. For this, the concrete must be at least seven days old. The surface materials to be applied, have to be clean, reasonably dry, and free of dirt and loose components, at the same time conforming to the agreed minimum standard. Meanwhile, all voids and pinholes should be filled using polymer modified mortar 75 mm x 75 mm angle fillets (corner rounding) of non-shrink mortar. These are to be placed at the intersection of all vertical and horizontal surfaces for the waterproofing membrane to turn up.

Stucco process

After the surface has been prepared, the rendering process begins - application of a coat of stucco on the roof. Stucco is a type of plaster made of Portland cement with sand and lime. A low wall of brick must be constructed along the edge of the roof before your mason applies the primer on it. Priming is very essential for the roof as it enhances the adhesion of the membrane to the substrate. The primary surface is known as the membrane whereas substrate is the ultimate finished surface. A good quality primer should be used for this adhesion.

Water proofing

A membrane coating must be used to sustain good quality waterproof roofing. The main aspect to be taken care of at this stage is to ensure its right process of applying. The torch shield roll should be unrolled by starting at a low point from the roof, and only after the priming coat is dried. Repetition is a must for full checking of roof leakage.

There is no alternative to the meticulous observance of the procedure that is indispensable for keeping your roof safe and secure. Even if problems arise subsequently, permanent solutions are possible. For this purpose, several injection therapies are available in the market. The main aspect to be taken care of in this case too would be to ensure that the contractor adopts the right process and follows the guidelines.
